DANCE FOR SENIORS WITH QUEENSLAND BALLET

Queensland Ballet will present a very special Seniors Week celebration! This is a day of free programmed activities for seniors developed specifically to celebrate what it means to become an active older adult. 

Please wear clothes suitable for gentle physical activity. No dance experience required.

ARTS DINNERS @ THE CENTRE BEAUDESERT

Arts Dinners are designed to stimulate creative industry and cultural development across the Scenic Rim. These free events focus on networking, skill development, and community conversations about things that matter for the arts in our community. Expect a fun night with live entertainment and stimulating discussions.

Please note:  A light supper will be provided at this event with the option to purchase beverages from the bar.

WRITERS' WORKSHOPS WITH QUEENSLAND WRITERS CENTRE

Screenwriting for Non-Screenwriters - Please note:  Facilitator Change

Sandra Makaresz will be replacing Sophie Overett as facilitator of the Screen Writing for Non-Screenwritters workshop.  Sandra Makaresz is a Queensland based writer with a diverse range of producing and writing experience from children’s television to academic, business and fiction writing. She is a member of the Qld Writers Centre Management Committee, spent four years as a writing consultant for the Regional Arts Development Fund in Logan City, and reads for Aurealis magazine. She has a Master of Arts (Research) in Children’s and Youth Writing and is currently undertaking a PhD in creative writing, focusing on children’s fiction. Her web series, Life of Jess, part of Screen Australia and Google’s Skip Ahead fund, won Best Dramedy at the Asia Web Awards. Her first middle-grade children’s novel was the winner of the 2017 Australian Society of Authors Edel Wignell mentorship and her YA novel received a 2016-17 Emerging Writers’ and Illustrators’ Mentorship and a CYA children’s writing award. She is currently editor of WQ magazine and working on several film and television projects.

SCENIC RIM WRITERS GROUP AND QUEENSLAND WRITERS CENTRE

Writers from around the Scenic Rim are welcome to join this group which meets the first Tuesday of every month, 10am - 2pm, at The Centre, Beaudesert. The objectives of the group are to hold writing events and workshops to build skills, support each other and develop networks. 

QWC provides a mentoring role to the group and assists with editing, masterclasses and publications. For more information, contact Ailsa Rolley rolleysa@gmail.com

ARTS ABLAZE

Part conference and part festival, Arts Ablaze will be a regional celebration of arts and culture staged at the Ramada Resort Kooralbyn from 2 to 6 October 2019. 

 

The Arts Ablaze is funded by the Australian Government through the Building Better Regions Fund, and proudly supported by The Regional Arts Services Network, an initiative of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Scenic Rim Regional Council to support local arts and culture in Regional Queensland, CQ University Australia and the Ramada Resort Kooralbyn Valley.
