Kyonghee Kim is a ceramist with more than 20 years' experience. She makes both functional and sculptural works and has exhibited throughout Australia and overseas.

Kyonghee refers to ceramics as 'creations of fire'. By this she means that the finished works owe more than 70% of their creation to the firing process. She uses simple traditional glazes from China, Korea and Japan, such as Celadon, clear and Shino glazes and sometimes decorates with brush painting using natural oxides of iron, copper and blue cobalt.

Kyonghee's studio is surrounded by beautiful gardens and nestled beside Esme Park. She built much her studio herself using earthbag techniques. From her studio Kyonehee offers regular pottery classes for beginners as well as those with experience.

One hour workshops in Tea Bowl Making: 10am-11am and 2pm-3pm, Saturday and Sunday, cost $25. Bookings essential.
