Information Day

The period between November 2017 and November 2019 is a special period in the history of the Bahá’í Faith. It marks the bicentenary of the birth of its Prophet Founder, Baha’u’llah, the Glory of God, and the birthday of His Forerunner, the Bab, the Gate. Their birthdays are celebrated on consecutive days. Thus, the event is known as the “Twin Holy Days”. In 2018 they fall on 9th and 10th November. Hence, Baha’is throughout the world are celebrating this occasion by holding a number of events from now, leading up to the 9th and 10th November.
As a lead-up to the Twin Holy Days, the Bahá’í community of the Scenic Rim is planning to host a number of events. The first of these events will be held on 16th October 2018 at the Boonah Cultural Centre, Boonah. This event will consist of a photographic exhibition of the Shrine of Baha’u’llah in Akka, Israel and the Shrine of Bab on Mount Carmel in Haifa, in Israel.
The Information Day will offer you the opportunity to ask questions and receive information about the Personage of the Bab and Baha’u’llah, as well as the Teachings of the Baha’i Faith.
The Bab’s primary purpose was to awaken the people to the fact that a new period in human history had begun, one which would witness the unification of the entire human race and the emergence of a world civilization of spiritual and material prosperity.

The great vision of Baha’u’llah was of a world civilization based on the principle of the oneness of humanity, captured in the quotation: “The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens”.
On this Information Day you will discover the peace and serenity that the Bahá’í Faith offers the individual and the love that it has for all of humanity.

“Do not be content with showing friendship in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path.” Baha’u’llah

“To be a Bahá’í simply means to love all the world; to love humanity and try to serve it; to work for universal peace and universal brotherhood.”  Abdu’l-Bahá

“…. humanity's ultimate well-being is dependent upon its differences being transcended and its unity firmly established.  Every contribution Baha'is make to the life of their society is aimed at fostering unity; every community-building endeavour is directed towards the same end.” Universal House of Justice (The Supreme body of the Baha’i Faith)

It is worth noting that Bahá’i Holy Places in Haifa and the Western Galilee are on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. On their website UNESCO states “The Bahá’i Holy Places in Haifa and Western Galilee are inscribed for their profound spiritual meaning and the testimony they bear to the strong tradition of pilgrimage in the Bahá’i Faith.”
The mayor of Haifa fondly referred to the gardens surrounding the Shrine of the Bab as the 8th Wonder of the World.

We cordially invite you to come over and see us on this Information day. We hope to see you there.
