Scenic Rim Writers

Following on from the very successful War Stories and Our Town Community Writing project in 2015, writers across the Scenic Rim are encouraged to meet and work on a community writing project.  This year we explore "The Word on the Street"- fact, fiction or fable: an opportunity to explore stories of the streets in which we live. ( It is planned that the writing will result in an anthology to be published in 2017.)

Working again with the Queensland Writers Centre we will provide access to writing mentors and speakers throughout the year.

Each session will have a guest speaker then plenty of time to discuss projects and collaborations.

Please RSVP - details above. Morning tea provided, please bring your lunch.

Tuesday 12 July - Jodi Cleghorn will lead a group critique session. NOTE DATE CHANGE!

Writers are asked to prepare 1,500-2,000 words of their current work in progress. This is to be double-spaced and printed. Anyone without access to a printer can email their work to Julie on for printing.

Tuesday 2 August - 'Mastering Short Fiction' workshop - Megan McGrath

This will include dissecting the anatomy of a short story including narrative, structure, theme, character and place.

Tuesday 6 September - 'Inspired by Landscape'. Workshop presenter: TM Clark
A good setting can be more than just the backdrop of your story.

Saturday 10 September 3pm-5pm at Poppi's Wholefood Cafe (Opposite Boonah Cultural Centre) - Whispers

Tuesday 11 (Note date change) October 'Second writing critique' with Jodi Cleghorn
