Paintings, weaving and installations by Queensland First Nations artist Kim Brolga Williams

This exhibition will take you, the audience, on a fifty-year journey inside Australia's history of Stolen Generations and how one young girl, Kim Brolga Williams found where she belonged. This journey has been the difference between life and death for her.

Kim says about her experiences, "understanding the history and knowing how we got to our present-day situation is an essential first step in the healing process.

I need to know about my aboriginal history and the record of dispossession, forced relocations, forced removals, enforced marginalisation and the impact of British colonisation in Australia.

The experiences of being forcefully removed and institutionalised and its impact on my development as a child are difficult to understand.

Being a stolen generation girl set me apart from all the others because my removal was racially motivated and part of a general and popular social, political and administrative regime, aimed at reforming my innate (racial) deficiencies."

Also on show is Corroborate exhibition curated by Queensland artist Kim Walmsley.
